Movie Review: Alice in Wonderland
March 22, 2010In this Tim Burton version of Lewis Carroll’s classic book Alice in Wonderland, nearly twenty-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is a dreamer whose silly wonderings are discouraged by everyone around her. One day, at a party, she follows the most peculiar thing: a white rabbit in a waistcoat. Trying to see where it’s going, she falls deep into a hole under a tree where she comes to the place she hadn’t been since she was a kid. And she will have to defend the land she dreamed about from the evil Queen of Hearts (Helena Bonham Carter) by slaying one of the most terrifying creatures in Wonderland.
First of all I must say this: absolutely beautiful. I loved the set of the world of Wonderland. Even the burned down places and the castles for both queens were lovely. Having watch the Disney cartoon version of the story, I loved seeing the parallels between the cartoon and this movie. My favorite part was seeing the flowers talk.
Johnny Depp was absolutely mad! Although, I do find it a bit disappointing that he has orange hair instead of the gray in the cartoon, but other than that he was great.
I also fell in love with all the dresses Alice wore. I love dresses and especially ones like in this movie. I’ll see if I can put up a picture of my favorite one.
Here it is:
Isn’t it beautiful?
Well with all this I have to give Alice in Wonderland, in my opinion:
